Child Learning and Development
At A Beautiful Day Christian Academy, we are committed to fostering the growth and development of every child by aligning our practices with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards (FELDS). These standards provide a comprehensive framework that outlines age-appropriate expectations for children from birth to kindergarten, ensuring a holistic approach to early childhood education. By integrating these standards into our daily activities, we aim to support each child’s unique developmental journey.
The FELDS encompass eight key domains: Physical Development, Approaches to Learning, Social and Emotional Development, Language and Literacy, Mathematical Thinking, Scientific Inquiry, Social Studies, and Creative Expression Through the Arts. Each domain is designed to promote specific skills and knowledge areas, facilitating well-rounded growth. For instance, the Physical Development domain focuses on enhancing children’s gross and fine motor skills, while the Language and Literacy domain emphasizes communication abilities and emergent reading skills.
Our educators utilize these standards to create engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that cater to the diverse needs of our children. By observing and assessing each child’s progress within these domains, we can tailor our teaching strategies to support individual learning styles and developmental milestones. This personalized approach not only nurtures academic readiness but also fosters confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love for learning.
We believe that collaboration with families is essential in supporting children’s development. By maintaining open communication and sharing insights based on the FELDS, we empower parents to reinforce learning at home and stay actively involved in their child’s educational journey. Together, we can create a nurturing environment that lays a strong foundation for future success.
